The V & A Waterfront is the ideal venue to experience an on-foot Adventure Treasure Hunt.

With its numerous curio shops, adventure stores, historical monuments and activity stations the Waterfront proves a treasure trove of exciting and interactive activities – even for those who have previously visited the venue.

The action….
After a short briefing at the office, the group will be divided into teams which will each recieve a Race Kit containing a map of the waterfront, a team passport and a race book. Heading out from the office, teams can park at the Main Parking area before dispersing to complete the challenges in the race book.

Teams must use the maps provided and navigational clues to find the marshalled checkpoints. These may include the Aquarium, Adventure gear stores, Curio shops, the Red Shed Craft Shop and Robben Island Museum.

A brightly coloured Marshal will stamp their passports and get them to perform a task which could include drinking a locally produced beer, navigating through a dark cave, collecting bags of sweets or a South African flag, posing for team photo’s or completing a mini golf course. They will find busking musicians, historical buildings, swinging bridges, seals, sharks and other marine life en route.

The Rally will end at one of the many fine pubs or restaurants in the Waterfront. We will put together an informal prize giving of the afternoons activities and present it to the group while they enjoy a well deserved beer or glass of wine!

Survivor Challenge and Initiative Course

The Challenge and Initiative Course is a fun competitive formula that draws on the delegate’s capacity to interact, communicate, manage time, solve problems and work together as a team. All our activities are designed to utilizelaughter as a means of bringing people together. These activities require no prior experience, fitness or training.

The teams will need to work together in order to complete the Caterpillar Walk, Human Knot, Trust Fall and other ice breaker activities.

We will highlight the hilarity of communication breakdowns with Blind Soccer, Animal Noises and Blind Rope shapes. These activities all require an individual to rely on their team members instructions to complete the task.

Adventure Orienteering
Now that each team is functioning as a well oiled unit they will compete in an Adventure Orienteering exercise. This will be the primary emphasis of the day and will take the format of utilizing the team unity gained in the earlier activities to complete the mental and engineering challenges ahead.

The teams will follow clues that will send them exploring around the property. They will navigate across bridges, through forests to find the pieces of a Giant puzzle.

The first team to solve the Puzzle as well as complete the Spaghetti Tower, Woodcutters challenge and other activities will be the winner. Points are weighted for each activity so effective planning and teamwork is vital for this event.

There will be cool boxes with snacks and refreshments to keep the energy levels up and we will stop for a rests on the banks of the river along the way.

The Paddlers will work up hearty appetites and after the paddle we stop for a picnic lunch at the take out point on the banks of the river. Run on both the Palmiet (in winter) and Breede River, the trips can be extended into an overnight camping experience to extend the experience for your staff. Winter is the rainy season creating greater rapids. We don wetsuits for a true adventure and enjoy some wild water action.

Doring Raft
Sheer adrenaline surges through your veins as you tackle the more extreme of the cape’s rivers. The Doring is very seasonal, operating for only a few weeks of the year between June and September as the water levels rise with the rains.

Breede Canoe
A gentle doddle on the upper stretches of the Breede River is perfect for absolutely everyone. The slow flowing waters offer plently of time for swimming and floating with the occasional grade 2 section of very small rapids to keep it interesting.

Breede Craft
On the Breede’s lower sections the pace picks up with grade 3 rapids ensuring an exciting day on the water but still suitable for even the most faint hearted.

Adventure Car Rallies or Treasure Hunts are a fun way for delegates to discover the Cape a little differently, interacting with their surroundings and the locals.

The Winelands Treasure Hunt takes delegates on a scenic drive around one of the Cape’s most beautiful and interesting areas, rich in history and home to many award winning wine estates. Along the way we stop at farm stalls bursting with home-made South African goodies, chocolateiers for scrummy treats, antique shops filled with interesting nik-naks and of course vineyards where we sample great wines and mouth-watering cheeses.

The Rally will take an Amazing Race type format where the guests will follow a series of cryptic clues that will take them on a set route, stopping at checkpoints at scenic hotspots en route. The rally is not a race against the clock but a day of discovery where points are awarded for correctly answering questions which enable the groups to explore the Winelands while interacting with each other, learning about the destination they are visiting and having a lot of fun.

They will be provided with a Race Kit containing maps, a team passport, a kitty, a race book, and a chauffer driven Microbus. At each checkpoint a Marshal, dressed in a crazy costume will stamp their passport, give them their next clue and a task to perform en route to the following checkpoint. These could include designing their own wine label, creating a necklace from goods they collect along the way or navigating through a maze.
After a late lunch we end the day off with a Team Poem or War-Cry before adding up the scores to determine the winning team.

After a long mornings paddle we arrive at a beautiful thatched boma with a wooden deck stretching out over the river. The fire will be blazing and the barbeque sizzling while we enjoy a cold beer and a wine tasting of some locally produced vintages.

After a hearty lunch followed by dessert and coffee the group will have time to play volleyball or just relax on the Balcony before heading back to Cape Town.

This is a great way to add some adventure to the winelands experience and enable the group to explore a uniquely South African area.
